Little Miss Inventor

Remember the days of when you were at school and you got to go to the library to pick out a new book and everyone would fight over which Mr Men you wanted. From Little Miss Princess to Little Miss Sunshine, there's one for everyone and you automatically start to relate to your favourite.

In a bid to inspire young girls to see it's not just about being bossy or a princess, the latest character, Little Miss Inventor, in the much-loved series by Roger Hargreaves, is here to show girls that you can be whatever you want.

The 'intelligent, ingenious and inventive' character is due to appear in the new book launch set for 8 March 2018 to coincide with International Woman's Day and British Science Week.

"Her brain is full of ideas, which she turns into extraordinary invetions in a shed at the bottom of her garden," reads the blurb. "As well as inventing things for herself, she also invents things for her friends, whether it's a chatter-natter hat for Little Miss Chatterbox or a back-pack-snack-attack for Mr. Greedy."

"But her greatest challenge yet has her stumped, what an earth could she invent for Mr. Rude?!"

"I always enjoy creating a brand new character for the series and it was fun coming up with lots of crazy inventions for Little Miss Inventor's home and silly ones for all her friends," says Adam Hargreaves, the son of founder Roger Hargreaves. "It's also been nice to write a story that promotes a positive role model and to challenge a stereotype, if only in a small way."

This might be a small step but its one in the right direction that hopes to bring inspiration to all those driven and enthusiastic young girls out there.

Trending: Blotox

You've just stepped out of the hairdressers after having a much needed blow dry and you're feeling yourself. Your hair has gone from drab to fab, and nothing can stop you. You're ready for your big night out and the compliments that you just know are going to come your way.

Why can't everyday be like this?

Well, if your up for injecting your scalp to make your blow dry last longer then this could be a reality.

According to Us Weekly, the latest trend to hit Hollywood is Blotox - botox injected into your scalp to make the blow dry last past its usual sell-by date.

A favourite amongst many, Botox has long been used to get rid of a wrinkle or two for some and used to decrease sweating by injecting into the armpits and feet to reduce excessive levels of sweat.

So how does it work, some might be asking.

Working just the same as injecting into your armpits, by injecting into the scalp and underneath the hair follicles, this prevents any sweat or oils from messing up your luscious locks.

Dermatologist, Dr Michelle Henry says she started giving her clients Blotox treatments after many women said they were reluctant to hit the gym because they didn't want to ruin their blow-dry.

"It makes a huge difference for the working woman who wants to be fit but still look great," she says. "For patients with curly or kinky hair, their hair will remain straight longer."

Interested in hearing more? Well the actual procedure works by preventing communication between the nerve ending and the eccrine gland - which is where sweat comes from. When this signal is disrupted, you don't sweat, meaning you won't get a sweaty head.

But it's not just a simple injection that you'll need. Oh no, you're looking at around 200 injections carefully placed under your hair follicles, but still only taking 20 minutes so it can't be that bad!

At £600 a go, if you're an absolute sweaty betty with a spare few monies and want your hair on fleek all day, everyday then go for it, it just might be worth it. But if that's one hell of a stretch, then we'd say invest in a decent hairdryer and rollers and get that technique down. With Black Friday just round the corner, you're bound to get your hands on one hell of a bargain.

Or just pop down to Boots and get some dry shampoo.

Barbie Shero: Barbie gets a Makeover

Barbie has got a new look! One that we've been waiting and waiting for.

Introducing the new Hijab wearing Barbie, inspired by American fencer and Olympic bronze medalist, Ibtihaj Muhammad.

When Mattel told Ibtihaj that she would be the new inspiration for their next Barbie doll, she cried. Tears of joy, she made sure that her doll would be a true representation of her - dark eyeliner, big, strong legs and of course, the Hijab.

"It's something I wear like I wear a shirt or I wear pans," Ibtihaj says.

She says that she hopes children will "take it off and try it on their other Barbies."

For the initial product, the doll was dressed in a white padded fencing outfit which had 'Muhammad' printed in black lettering across the back with a removable helmet which reveals her hijab.

Part of the Barbie's Shero collection - female heroes - which aims to encourage children to be anything they want to be and the women who break boundaries to inspire the next generation of girls.

"I think its revolutionary for Barbie to take a stand in this moment we're in," she told People.

Lisa McKnight, senior vice-president in charge of Barbie strategy at Mattel tells the New York Times that their new strategy is to find more women to base Barbie on.

"The trifecta - someone like Ibtihaj Muhammad, who has broken boundaries and inspires girls, and played with Barbies as a girl herself."

So, what Barbie can we expect to see next?

"Clearly, there's a lot of interest in women in STEM - science, technology, engineering and mathematics," says Lisa.

ASOS try before you buy

ASOS just keeps getting better and better - we simply cannot stop saying this.

Firstly they brought us premier next day delivery for a whole year many years ago, then they brought us same day delivery and now they are letting us try before we buy.

Is this real life? Is this actually happening... you betcha!

Instead of umming and ahhing whether or noth to buy something because you're unsure of how it will look, now you can order whatever you want, try it on at home and only pay for the things you keep. Sounds ideal.

 So how does it work?

All you need is the ASOS app on your phone, be at least 18 years old, have an email and mobile number and have a UK residential address.

Order all your bits and bobs and don't pay a single thing. Try everything on, get everyone's opinions and simply send whatever you don't want within 30 days - simple. You'll then be charged for the items you keep with payments made within the 30 days.

Nicola Thompson, Global Trading Director said "We are constantly looking for new ways to improve the ASOS experience for our 15.4 million customers around the world."

"We know people love the option of paying later only for the things they keep, and are excited to introduce this for customers shopping on our app in the UK."
