Girls at Castings

When we talk about the modelling world, everybody thinks it's so glamourous, full of runways, photoshoots and designer outfits. Yes, this is true, but the other side that we don't tend to hear about is the sitting around waiting for castings to take place.

It can be a pretty tedious thing, cramped in a corridor with God knows how many other models waiting for your time with the casting director. You're most likely to find models scrolling through their Insta feeds or head in a book trying their best to keep themselves entertained.

But one model has decided to turn those long unproductive hours into something she can benefit from. Up-and-coming model Richie Hines, who also is an artist, started drawing the models she found herself sitting next to at castings, many of whom were slumped on chairs and spread out on the floor.

"I was really bored one day," she recalls of when she decided to start the Instagram account, @girlsatcastings. "We were sittings there for five hours and there was no Wi-Fi!"

Finding something inspired about the candidness of model's boredom, she took pen to paper and started drawing. Her creations take time as she uses the technique of pointillism, which works well with long castings as her work can take up to 40-50 hours to complete.

Capturing the attention of Supermodel, Bella Hadid through her very own drawing of the model, Hines future both in the modelling world and artistic is set to be bright.
