Last week River Island's mannequins hit the headlines after causing concern for their shoppers. Their curled up and tucked position whilst holding themselves together have gone viral after customers dubbed them goth-like, depressed and hungover. But why are they like this? Is it a tough life as a mannequin? Have they had enough of the attention and just want some alone time? Who knows...
When the high street retailer was asked by the BBC why they look so glum, they said, "River Island likes to keep the shopping experience interesting, fresh and different for our customers - with distinctive in store displays, which we change and update regularly... We always welcome customer feedback and aim to reflect their views in our stores."
It's perhaps not the best way to show of the clothes and styling options and a little odd, but if you're ever feeling down, just remember... these mannequins know how you feel.
