The fashion industry has called upon the Government to ensure that the UK stays in the single market after Brexit as hundreds of international buyers arrive for LFW.
The chief executive of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush who is head of organising the fashion event said "continuing to have access to the single market is going to be vitally important to us."
Over the next week, 83 designers will show at Fashion Week and a further 150 will showcase their latest collection in showrooms and presentation spaces, generating an estimated £100m of orders from the international press and buyers.
London Fashion Week has been the home of emerging young designers and new talent for many years, and Rush wants to ensure those young designers that they are still able to come to the UK to study and work.
"We need to ensure that our changing relationship with the EU will not impact on the creativity of London, our access to new talent overseas or the ongoing education and training programmes we support." says Rush.
The fashion industry had voted to remain within the European Union but since the decision to leave the sales of luxury fashion has seen as rise due to tourists taking advantage of the drop in the value of the pound against both the euro and the dollar.
"The fashion industry was a remain voter and it was a bit of a shock at first but then you regroup and people are saying there are lots of positives."
