International Women's Day

Dubbed 'A Day Without A Woman', Wednesday 8th March marks International Women's Day. After the success of the Women's March back in January, the organisers have stepped it up a notch. For this year, they have decided to enforce a nationwide general strike for all women. The strike is meant to send a powerful message to the country and the world that women's voices will not be ignored.

"We saw what happened when millions of us stood together in January, and now we know that our army of love greatly outnumbers the army of fear, greed and hatred," the organisers behind the march wrote on Instagram. "On March 8th, International Women's Day, let's unite again in our communities for A Day Without A Woman,"

The organisers behind the day are asking you to #BeBoldForChange. The day is set to recognise the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to society, whilst receiving lower wages and experiencing gender inequality on a daily basis.

And what do they want from us? It's simple:

Either take the day off, avoid shopping for one day or wear red, in solidarity for women all over.

If you want to get more involved, then why not attend events or even set up your own. WOW - Women of the World festival at Southbank Centre is back for another year, where empowering women speak and perform to celebrate the achievements of women and girls everywhere.

So #BeBoldForChange and get involved. After all, who run the world?

Girls.
