This trend has been on our radar for some time now, but it taken us a bit of time to accept it. Yep, the geek glasses are back! And who is to, can we say blame, for this? Well, of course, it's THE 'it' girls, Kendall, Gigi and Bella.
Seen wearing the classic pilot specs with almost virtually any outfit and pulling it off effortlessly, the glasses have become one of the go-to trends for SS17. With coloured lenses in yellow, pink and purple also becoming more popular by day, the accessory is sure to be a festival and summer favourite.
The aviator shape, or pilot lens, as it was originally named was developed to provide "real scientific glare protection". Created and designed by manufacturer Bausch & Lomb and a pilot who witnessed an accident caused by ineffective flying goggles in the 1920's, Ray Bans were intended to be light and large whilst providing "a good field of vision," says Tom Broughton, Cubbitts founder.
The glasses not only tie in perfectly with the 70's trend that seems to be taking over thanks to Gucci, but also fits in with the oversized trend that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
It appears that glasses are finally desirable and all the cool kids want to get involved.
