Shaving Myths

Summer is fast approaching and it's getting warmer and warmer, which can only mean one thing for us girls... It's time to wave goodbye to tights and jeans and say hello to pretty Summer dresses and get those legs out - shaving season is upon us.

You can no longer get away with not shaving for days, maybe weeks upon end. After all, nobody wants to see a forrest growing on your legs whilst you bask in the British heat.

So, with that we've decided to put together some common shaving myths from Gillette, to get to the truth behind all our shaving problems.

Myth: Shaving every day causes hair to grow back thicker, darker and faster
Well, according to Gillette, shaving every morning or night does NOT cause hair to grow back quicker, thicker and darker! It's down to your genetics and hormones that determines how quick, thick or dark your hairs are.

Myth: Shaving cream isn't necessary
Shaving cream is necessary as it helps to shave. Using soap and water will only dry out the skin, whereas creams will provide a layer of protection against cuts. If you're not keen on shaving cream, opt for conditioner, it works exactly the same - and you'll always have some on hand.

Myth: It's okay to dry shave
WRONG! This will be painful and leave a mess. You don't want to be walking around with red spots all over your legs. Water and some form of gel or cream is necessary!

Myth: Shaving will take away my tan
This is going through everyones mind when it comes to shaving on holiday. And according to Gillette, this is false! You can't simply shave away a tan. In fact, shaving regularly whilst on holiday will enhance your tan by taking away the top layer of flaky, dead skin revealing your glow.

Myth: Pressing hard will give a closer shave
No, no, no - pressing hard will only cause nicks and cuts! To get the closest shave, use a light touch and don't go over the same area repeatedly.

There you have it! All your shaving fears gone, along with all your hairs.
